New Martin Guitar Books Are Coming

As we have mentioned a few times, we are big fans of Gryphon Stringed Instruments in Palo Alto - in no small part because Richard Johnston (the co-owner) is one of the most knowledgeable people there is about Martin Guitars.  Today we realized (through some high-tech sleuthing on Amazon), that Johnston has teamed with Dick Boak, Mike Longworth and the Martin Guitar Company to publish two new hardcover books on Martin guitars.  The books are expected to be available in a boxed set in time for the holidays.

The first book, “Martin Guitars:  A History:  Book One,”  promises
to cover the “people, the places and the stories” of the special guitar
company.  The book will be filled with illustrations and promises to be
the most accurate and detailed reference on the history company.

The second book, “Martin Guitars:  A Technical Reference:  Book 2,” will provide
information about bodies, necks, headstocks, bridges and all of the other key guitar components.  It will
include lesser-known Martin instruments like archtops and ukeleles and
will cover all Martin models and include retail prices.  It will be the
ultimate reference for owners, collectors or anybody interested in
Martin guitars.

Both books are expected to be available in a Boxed Set in time for the holidays.

I know one thing that is going on my list for Hanukkah Harry.
