Why Guitarists Must Have Rhapsody
Here at Fretbase, we’re big fans of using every means possible to improve our guitar playing. A critical online tool for us is Rhapsody.
For those of you that aren’t familiar with Rhapsody, it is an online music subscription service. For a piddly monthly fee (usually around $12.99) you can listen to whatever you want whenever you want. It really does give you unlimited access to all of your favorite music (and great music you haven’t heard of yet). It is missing very, very few artists (the Beatles are the only one we can think of). There are many reasons that as guitarists we love this service. Here are a few:
- You can immediately listen to *the full-length version* of any song you want to play
- It is web-based, so you can use it from anyplace you have web access and a guitar (like the Fretbase offices!)
- It works great with a Squeezebox or Sonos so you can use it anywhere in your house and control it with a remote (much better than trying to use a mouse when you have a dreadnought in your lap)
- It is great for discovering new music to try to play
- It lets you create playlists so you can easily go back to the songs you are working on
- Soon, Fretbase will be linking to songs we mention here so you can listen immediately if you are a subscriber
- You’ll have something awfully cool to show your guitar-playing pals
