Gibson Acoustic Guitar History

You won’t find too many companies with a greater history in  guitar-making than Gibson.  While many of its electric guitars are without rivals (ever heard of a 1959 Gibson Les Paul?), the company’s history of making great flat-top acoustic guitars goes back to the late 1890’s when Orville Gibson designed his first arch-top guitar and then really kicked into high gear in 1926 with the introduction of the original Gibson L-1.  Gibson Guitars has recently published on their website a wonderful article that provides a lot of great information on Gibson’s history in building fine acoustic guitars.  Full Story…

The story recounts the company’s creation and introduction of many of the acoustic guitars that are still well-known to this day including the Gibson J-45 and Gibson J-200.  The story does a good job of combining not only what was going on with each guitar, but also the company’s ups and downs based on good or bad product decisions that were made.  We’re big fans of Gibson Guitars and we really enjoyed the article.  Put your mini-jumbo down for a moment and check it out.
