Guitar iPhone App: FretBoard
We were just given a chance to preview a new iPhone app for guitar players called FretBoard. FretBoard is similar to many other guitar iPhone apps in some respects but also has some neat features that separate it from the pack. It’s big differentiation from others is the fact that it supports many stringed instruments including the guitar, banjo, bouzouki, bass, mandolin, violin, viola, cello, lute, viola da gamba, ukulele, dulcimer, all Chapman Sticks and Warr guitars. Extra points if you even know those last two instruments.
We’ve added the app to our iPhone Apps For Guitar Player’s page. Read the Full story…

question.
can you program your own tunings into this app?
Custom tunings are planned for a future version. Until then feel free to send a tuning request by email. BTW, yesterday FretBoard LE, the free version of this application was released, which hass all features of the full version, but only a limited database of chords and scales.
Was hoping to find a standard baritone guitar tuning, but haven’t. (HEAF#GH?). Is it something I’ve overlooked, or do I need to wait for the free-tuning option?
Besides that; great app.
Update:
FretBoard for iPhone and iPod Touch updated to v1.1
===================================================
The update incorporates the following changes:
* Added several Dobro, Lap Steel and Pedal Steel E9th and C6th tunings. Now FretBoards database contains 96 instrument tunings in 14 groups.
* Bugfix: Note symbols on fretboard are now at the correct position, they was a two pixel offset to the left in v1.0.
* Added Sean Stirlings beautiful splash screen
I was just looking about for any talk about FretBoard and found your page. Thanks for the mention. I’m a Chapman Stick Player who’s had a sideline with digital art. I’ve just started a graphics area on my site and within the next few minutes I’ll have that splash screen online. In the graphic there’s an early Chapman Stick with a wooden pickup.
