Coolest Fuzz Pedal Ever?
While checking out the Malekko Sping Chicken last week, we also stumbled upon another Malekko gem - the Barker ASSMASTER. That’s right - “assmaster”. The name alone implies just how much “ass” is mastered when this pedal is kicked on. Inspired by the original Maestro Bass Brassmaster octave pedal this pedal provides some of the coolest fuzz sounds we’ve heard yet.
Definitely worth checking out. Full story…
The original Bass Brassmaster came from the classic effects maker Maestro - famous for such effects as the Echoplex and the Fuzz-Tone (the pedal famously used by Keith Richards on “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction“). Just like the Fender Bassman - once guitarists got their hands on the little device - it became more popular with guitar players than bass players.
Malekko’s Barker ASSMASTER is a take on the original but some nicely done upgrades and improvements. Hand-built by Malekko, this modern version delivers the same octave overdrive/harmonic generation effect in a quiet, fully controllable pedal. It features a recessed LED indicator, a pop-free true bypass switch, and a tough lexan face. The 5 controls provide complete control over the tone, overtones, harmonics and mix of the dry and wet signal.
Check out this video from ProGuitarShop.com demonstrating the awesomeness of this fuzz pedal. Also kudos to ProGuitarShop for having the absolute best collection of guitar effects videos in the world.
