10 Great Double-Neck Guitar Videos

jimmyAhhh, the double-neck guitar.  Is there anything more rock-n-roll than the double-neck guitar?  Sometimes one guitar isn’t enough and you can’t be bothered with a roadie handing you another guitar in mid-song, so you strap on the two-headed monster of rock.  It doesn’t matter what kind of music you play, if you’re any good at guitar or if you’re a two-handed virtuoso, when you have a double-neck guitar held in a vertical fashion, you rock (see right).

Here are 10 awesome double-neck guitar videos!  Got others?  Put them in the comments and help create one of the most rockin’est posts evar!

1. Hair-metal shredder Michael Angelo Batio demonstrates some of his two-handed technique in a power stance in front of couple of Randall Amps.

2. Time to get your classical on.  Here’s Adam Fulara rocking a double-neck with some two-handed tapping technique.

3. For number three – three necks.

4. Don’t hate me for posting this one.  We had to post a Stairway to Heaven video with a double-neck guitar.  It’s in the bylaws of guitar blogs everywhere.  Skip ahead to minute 6:00 to see the double mirror effect just like in Song Remains the Same. Plus how many of you played Stairway in your bedroom as a kid growing up? C’mon fess up.

5. Let’s not forget the acoustic double-neck guitar. It looks like something straight out of the dark ages. Sounds that way too…

6. Double-neck guitars are expensive. Sometimes you need to go the economical route and just build your own double-neck out of cigar boxes.

7. Here’s a Danelectro double-neck guitar with a baritone guitar on the upper neck. It’s only an Ebay demonstration but he’s a good player and you don’t see enough baritone guitars.

8. Here’s a good way to play both of your guitars on your double-neck – use a looper to record one part and loop that section while using the other guitar to play the solo. This guy does a great job with Wish You Were Here.

9. How about some slide guitar on that double-neck guitar? It’s starts off shreddy but gets bluesy real fast.

10. Last but certainly not least he is one of the masters himself – Steve Vai. You’ll notice Mr. Vai has decided to up the ante and add a third neck to his guitar. Totally legal if you’re a real rockstar.
