Gibson has released some of the most beautiful, iconic guitars around.  The Gibson Les Paul Standard, the Gibson SG and Gibson Explorer are just a few examples of some of coolest looking guitars known to man.  But recently we think Gibson has released some very ugly looking guitars that I’d have a hard time shelling out Gibson prices for.

Everyone has hits and misses.  Check out these misses over the past couple of years coming from one of our favorite builders out of Nashville.

Here’s some of the ugliest guitars we’ve seen from Gibson lately:

Gibson Zoot Suit

Gibson SG Zoot Suit:  It hurts my eyes just looking at this guitar.  Nothing about it says late 30’s stylish suits and cool swing music.  It a rainbow guitar that even hippies wouldn’t want to play.

Gibson Dusk Tiger

Gibson Dusk Tiger: Careful, this one bites.  I’m not sure how the whole robot guitar thing is catching on but I’m guessing adding tiger stripes, some metal swooshes and tiger teeth inlays isn’t going to help much.

Gibson Raw Power

Gibson Raw Power: Is it me or are these just a bunch of SGs and Les Pauls that came off the factory line one stop too soon?  I kind of like mine painted or with a sunburst.  How else will it get that relic look in 30 years?

Gibson Explorer Tribal

Gibson Tribal:  I have a tribal tattoo.  I was drunk, living on a small island in Southeast Asia and tribal was the only kind of tattoo the guy could do.  What’s your excuse Gibson?

Gibson Les Paul Axcess

Gibson Les Paul Axcess:  There is something about putting a Floyd Rose tremolo on a Les Paul that is just wrong.  Apologies to all in-tune, dive bombing enthusiasts, but the Les Paul just wasn’t meant for glam rock.
