Recommended: Joe Bonamassa Live From The Royal Albert Hall
I’m kind of a big fan of Joe Bonamassa and think he’s one of the best blues guitar players around right now, so take this with a grain of salt. Go out and buy the Joe Bonamassa Live From The Royal Albert Hall DVD right now! Yes it’s that good. The concert was recorded on May 4, 2009 and includes special guest Eric Clapton. Bonamassa called it “the complete culmination of 20 years of work for me.”
Bonamassa is a great live guitarist - I’d say better live than in the studio - and this DVD captures this dude at one of his best performances. Check out the clip with Eric Clapton, playing “Further On Up The Road”.
The DVD was shot by Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, Black Crowes, Aerosmith) who incidentally was recently the source of a now denied rumor that a super-group rumor involving Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Joe Perry and Brad Whitford. In Shirley’s words “There’s no supergroup planned with fifty guitarists recording, I’m sorry.”
