Review: The Guitar Hanger
When we first posted on the Guitar Hanger earlier this year we thought it was a handy way to save some space and at the same time have easy access to your axe when the inspiration hits. We’ve had a closer a look at the Guitar Hanger and had a chance to try it out in our own closet with our own guitars.
Overall we think the Guitar Hanger is a useful way to keep your guitar handy but it’s have some drawbacks to consider.
The Guitar Hanger is a pretty straightforward device that’s designed to hang off your closet’s rod. The device is well built and can handle any guitar weight. We had more concerns over our closet’s rod breaking than Guitar Hanger. The Guitar Hanger also features a locking bracket – you slide your guitar in sideways and then turn it to rest on the bracket. The bracket ensures you’re guitar won’t fall off the Guitar Hanger while you’re grabbing your favorite shirt out of the closet.
One feature we wished it had – a swivel hook. The Guitar Hanger can only hang one way – off a rod. But if the hanging hook could swivel then you could hang your guitar off any number of things like the back of a door. Maybe something to consider for future versions.
For longer term storage we wouldn’t recommend using the Guitar Hanger. It’s more of an alternative to a guitar stand. When putting your guitar away for an extended period of time it’s always better to store the guitar in a case. Your guitar is better protected from humidity, temperature changes and all the other environmental hazards in it’s case. But that said – if you don’t mind leaving the guitar out and space is limited the Guitar Hanger just might be the solution for you.

I think the guitar hanger is a great idea, but I don’t think I’d ever sleep with one of my guitars suspended caseless above the ground. Even though it does sound like something I’d see in a dream.
