Apparently after months of rumors “The Big Four” – Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax – have officially announced on Metallica.com that they are going share the stage at a few upcoming festival dates in Europe. The shows will start with the Sonisphere shows in Warsaw, Poland and Prague,Czech Republic with the possibility of more dates to be announced in the future.

We all know and love Metallica. Power chords, double-bass drums and swinging hair. And we all love Gallagher. Smashing watermelons, giant couches and newsboy caps. So what’s not to love about a mashup of the two, Metallagher?
That’s right folks we finally have a heavy metal band (albeit a cover band) that has infused it’s stage performance with prop comedy. You know Carrot Top is feeling validated right about now.

In demonstrating proof that some great legends never sell out, Jimmy Page has ruled out the possibility of a “Guitar Hero: Led Zeppelin”. After bands like The Beatles, Metallica and Aerosmith made their likeness and songs available to the makers of Guitar Hero and Rock Band, Jimmy Page has stood firm in his belief that Led Zeppelin would not translate well to video game format.
Just don’t tell him that we’ve all spent countless times in our bedrooms, guitar in hand and Led Zep blasting over the stereo, pretending we were on stage with Led Zeppelin…

A couple of weeks back Metallica was featured on the super-slow motion TV show Time Warp. Time Warp is on the Discovery Channel and features MIT scientist and teacher Jeff Lieberman — along with digital-imaging expert Matt Kearney — using super slow motion cameras to “bring truly never-before-seen wonders into a form that your body can actually process”.
In the Metallica episode they featured each of the band members doing what they do best but slowed down into super slow motion. Check out some of the clips…

We just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. Last night at the Grammy’s the unlikely duo took home Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals for Raising Sand. The former Led Zeppelin frontman said “I’m bewildered, in the old days we would have called this selling out, but I think it’s a good way to spend a Sunday.” Krauss and Plant’s album Raising Sand was produced by T. Bone Burnett who oversaw the production of the ‘O Brother Where Art Thou and The Big Lebowski soundtracks. Full story…

Almost anyone who has picked up a guitar has imagined what it would be like to jam with one of your favorite bands. If you think about it, Rockband and Guitar Hero are both kind of based on fulfilling this little musical fantasy. But what if you could actually jam with one of your favorite bands or guitar heroes?
