We noticed over on TechCrunch they posted on a new website called Songsterr. TechCrunch does a good job of providing the overview of the site. Songsterr is basically trying to make guitar tablature better by providing the sound (rhythm and duration) along with the tab.
So far it looks like Songsterr only has about 150 songs on their site with plans to expand out to 50,000. I imagine the process involves taking tabs off of sites like Ultimate-Guitar.com or Guitartabs.cc and then programming them into something like PowerTab and creating a flash version using the MIDI tones generated by PowerTab. If they can convert a catalog as big as Ultimate-Guitar.com, they could be a real destination for guitar players.
Check out “Going to California” by Led Zeppelin. If you listen all the way through it almost sounds pretty good. Would you find something like this useful?
