  • Pros: Doesn't colour your tone
  • Cons: not a fan of surface mount componentry
  • Experience: I own it
  • I have bought quite a few pedals over the years, and a lot comes down to how will this pedal affect the rest of my chain and how does this pedal sound in general. I'm quite a tone junkie, so If I don't like an effect I will sell it and find one that fits my sound. This pedal performs way better that boss tr-2 which I quite liked except for its tone suck with the pedal off. The pulsar preserves your tone regardless of whether the pedals engaged or not and best of all, the effect doesn't change your fuzz/OD/distortion etc. I read reviews which complain about how touchy the knobs are. While this is true, I find that i can easily find a great sound even with my toe. I have had pedals way harder to adjust than this. I find it easy to get the same sound in seconds and the tone is as warm as what if fed in. The triangle wave sounds vintage and the square sounds great. On low rates you can get an awesome heart beat sound For the price this pedal is a steel. Built well too.
