Description: Gretsch Tennessean 6119EDIT
Propelled to popularity by George Harrison and the Beatles when they appear on TV. George Harrison usually played a Gretsch Country Gentlemen but has also been known to play the Gretsch Tennessean.
The Gretsch Tennessean first appeared in 1958 with a single pickup. It was considered the “student model” and was basically a stripped down version of the 6120 Country Gentlemen. The Tennessean was a part of the Gretsch line until 1980 going through various changes and improvements (and some un-improvements) over the years.
The Gretsch G6119 Chet Atkins Tennessee Rose is the current version of this guitar in Gretsch’s lineup.
