  • Pros: The 1 3/4" width fretboard at the nut is perfect for the fingerstyle player.
  • Cons: Nothing to not like about this guitar, except for the price.
  • Experience: I own it
  • I love this guitar. This is my third 000-28 EC. I purchased this for it's collector's item status. I find it's tone no different than my other 000-28 ECs, so you can easily get this beautiful guitar & save $3k if you don't care about the limited edition. The best pickup for this guitar is the Fishman Ellipse Matrix Blend, narrow format. It picks up the essence of this guitar beautifully, whether playing directly thru a pa with a direct box, or playing thru the Bose L1 tower, which is also expensive but highly recommend for a perfect acoustic sound.
Note that the truss-rod assembly is different from previous 000-28ECs, so you'll have to order the hex nut wrench from Martin. Funny, they sell a $5600 guitar & they don't throw in the needed $4.00 tool.
I also own an 0M42......another great one.

  • Pros: Hard to describe the sound, you can actually feel it. Blows away my $7000 custom Taylor.
  • Cons: I don't like the fact I only own 1, so I bought a second!
  • Experience: I own it
  • Bought my first one from Fuller's Vintage, paid a little too much, around $5500, but I have wasted more on a lot lot less. Something about this guitar hits you deep inside, players will know what I mean. It is also one of the most comfortable guitars I have ever owned, I have a few, Martin D45 Marquis, Martin DC Aura, Taylor Custom Jumbo, Gibson J45 Rosewood Vine, and a Collings, so this review has some back-up to it. Play blues and some country and bluegrass, I am so afraid something will happen to it I just ordered a second one from Podium, will lock it away in display case and then I will feel comfortable beating the crap out of the first one. Would like to try a 42. This is one of those truly once in a lifetime sounding guitars.

  • Pros: The tonal quality is superior to all. It smells good. I do Clapton covers, what more could you ask for?
  • Cons: Nothing!!!
  • Experience: I own it
  • This guitar is the best of the best acoustic guitars. I have many high end guitars and it stands alone for its tonal quality and craftmanship. I have the Sunburst model. As soon as I am able I am going to purchase the clear spruce model. I highly recommend purchasing one if you can find one for whatever price. They are a limited edition build and will be worth there weight in gold always. I play numerous styles I prefer jazz and the blues. I purchasd this wonder at Draisen Edwards Music in Anderson S.C. It was right around 5K.
    Love IT!!

  • Pros: The guitar's whole beautiful body resonates with even the slightest touch
  • Cons: so precious I'm afraid to scratch it. The finish is like a mirror.
  • Experience: I own it
  • I play blues and classic guitar and I play cello. I used to reach for my orchestra level cello when i wanted to feel an instrument kind of come alive in my hands. With my beautiful top quality cello I do not have to work that hard to get a beautiful balanced and lively tone which i can feel resonating through my body. I do not feel that resonating clear tone with my Gibson J-45. It's a lot of work and technical focus to get my j45 to resonate like that.
With even the slightest of touch my 000-28M guitar resonates with perfect balanced tone which i can actually feel. I also sound like a far superior guitar player when playing this beautiful instrument. Its' got an absolutely remarkable tone which is utterly priceless. It feels like a guilty pleasure. It's also a gorgeous looking instrument. The details of the finish, the fretboard inlays, the design- it's a beautiful functional piece of art.
