Description: Martin D-16RGTEDIT
The Martin D-16RGT is a part of the “16 series”—developed my Martin to provide a better sounding guitar at an affordable price. Called the “poor man’s D-28” by some, the D-16RGT is a player’s guitar without all the bells and whistles. Martin achieved this through a combination of solid wood construction (R=solid East Indian rosewood back/sides and a solid Sitka spruce top) as well as a proprietary hybrid “X” scalloped bracing pattern using the traditional 5/16” braces. As a variation on bridge/neck materials, the “16-series” employs the composite called micarta (which is also used in hard hats). Similarly, the nut and saddle are made of corian. GT means gloss top. Possible customizations/upgrades might include upgrading the tuners, bridge pins, saddle and nut.
At around $1200 street price, it is a reasonably priced all solid-body dreadnought from the classic guitar maker.

Very nice guitar with few flaws
- Pros: Gloss Top, Good sound, comfortable neck
- Cons: For the price, Micarta bridge and fretboard is unacceptable. Micarta Bridge makes the guitar too bright
