Description: Epiphone Slash Les Paul Standard Plus TopEDIT
The Epiphone Slash Les Paul Standard Plus Top is based on Slash’s Gibson Les Paul that was previously released by Gibson. The Epiphone model is a more affordable version but still uses higher grade materials and electronics than normally found on Epiphone Les Paul guitars.
The Epiphone Slash Les Paul Standard Plus Top has one piece solid mahogany body (regular Epip’s use alder) with a maple cap that has a thin flamed maple veneer glued to the plain maple top. The guitar is finished in high-gloss polyurethane. The neck is made from one piece solid mahogany with a larger, more rounded ‘50s neck profile that’s referred to as the “Slash Profile”. The fretboard is made from rosewood and comes with acrylic trapezoid inlays.
The Slash Epiphone features a LockTone bridge that stays fastened to the guitar through a spring loaded system. The benefit of a LockTone is that it keeps the bridge in place while changing strings but also is supposed to produce better tone since the system is better fasten to the guitar than a standard Tune-o-Matic bridge.
The guitar comes with Slash’s preferred pickups – the Seymour Duncan Alnico Pro-II. The Alnico Pro II produce a more vintage, low-output humbucking tone closer to some of the more classic Les Pauls.

Solid "base" to build upon

- Pros: Weight of the mahogany "non chambered" body, mahogany "long-tenon" neck that appears to be one (1) piece, grade "A" maple cap, uniform "gold-top" finish, Seymour Duncan Alnico Pro II's OEM, nickle/silver alloy frets.
- Cons: "TALL" nut, mahogany body was formed from three (3) separate pieces of wood-one must view guitar from the "strap button;" the "mahogany veneer" back covers the seams, the "see-thru" look of the green tuners is a turn-off.
- Experience: I own it
My "goldtop" is #250 of 2000 units. Price paid $615.00 USD plus $129.00 USD for the cas...
