  • Great for Rock, Blues and Jazz

  • Pros: Very playable neck, great tone for hard rock, gritty blues and clean jazz. Lightweight, elegant simple design. Great unplugged, too. Pickups are stock, sound good and hot. Bass is warm, the highs are bright, and excellent sustain when overdriven.
  • Cons: The midrange can get lost, but retrievable with some nob fiddling. The hardware is cheap, so take care (my 5-year-old borked the volume nob, but that's easily repaired.) I will probably replace the pickups when the $ flow again.
  • Experience: I own it
  • I bought this used. It was already set-up - and the previous owner put in gorgeous MoP inlays. Bought from Portland Music Company for $325 w/ hard-shell case (also well made.) I love how easy it is to play, a thin neck with low action and frets big enough for easy bending tho not too big to prevent sliding up and down. It has a decent tone range. Played clean, sound is round and bright, good for jazz and country twang; played dirty, it's like Neil Young took over (a good thing, IMHO); played at high gain, it screams with sustain and clear articulation. I am still learning lead, so I can't say too much about the bridge position, save that it has a Tele sting I like. At bridge position, it's a great rhythm machine. Middle position, there is a nice balance for full-toned melodic playing. The bass is very forward, so it can be a pain to have to adjust the EQ, but I can live with that. It stays in tune, despite heavy bending on my part. A couple frets may need adjustment, and that volume nob irks me. Nonetheless, compared to other semi-hollows by Epiphone, it is second only to the Sheratons and much better than the Dot itself. I also like that the satin finish is smooth; none of the tackiness I have experienced with other Epi models. In sum, this is a great value for beginner and intermediary players.

  • Pros: Can play most any style from Classic Rock to Jazz. Nice Neck and great semihollow body sound.
  • Cons: Did not really have an issue with this guitar but I would not try playing metal on it or any other semihollow body for that matter.
  • Experience: I've used it
  • An instrument that can switch style with little problem could easily handly Rock, Country, Jazz, Blues, or Christain Rock. Nice neck easy to play with comfrot but easy to play fastt licks a very nice balance.
