Description: Taylor 114ceEDIT

The Taylor 114ce is the deluxe model of the mid-priced 100 series. Presented as the top tier on their entry-level series, the 114ce provides the solid construction that Taylor is known for plus a few bells and whistles for the performing acoustic musician. The Grand Auditorium body style features a cutaway and onboard electronics (designed by the same people that invented the Expression System pickup) with bass/treble/volume controls plus “custom-voiced eq and dynamic response.” The top is built with solid Sitka spruce. The sides and back are made with Sapele Laminate—a plywood made from the tropical African hardwood reminiscent of mahogany and priced for its grain and durability. The neck is constructed of Tropical American Mahogany and the fretboard is Indian Rosewood adorned with pearl dot inlays, as is the bridge. Taylor went with Tusq for the bridge/nut material. Like most Taylors, the 114ce—when strung with light-medium/light strings—is a great for fingerstyle playing. Or use any gauge for big strumming or flatpicking.

From the Manufacturer
A cutaway and ES-T pickup blend style, substance and value that enhance Taylor’s signature Grand Auditorium body shape.

  • Pros: I played many guitars at equal and higher prices (lot's of Martins because thats what I thought I wanted) then I picked up and played this Taylor. It just RINGS, it was way brighter than the other guitars, great looking and feels good in your hands!
  • Cons: Well, if I have to put something down in "cons" I guess....well, none really. The pice was good too, caught it new for 750.00 on sale at guitar center. (less than most Martins)
  • Experience: I own it
  • I haven't been playing too long, but the action, tone and over all sound is really amazing. It's ...
