Description: Languedoc G2EDIT
The original prototype of the Languedoc G2 was built for Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio back in 1987. The G2 is an archtop guitar with a true hollowbody. There is no internal block that’s often found on semi-hollow bodied guitars. Languedoc describes the tone as “very live and versatile…though for some players it can be a bit of a wild horse.”1 This is likely because of the design the guitar can very easily feedback when coupled with high output amplification.
Languedoc G2 guitars are all hand-built by Paul Languedoc in Vermont and can take up to six months to be manufacturered. There’s also a waiting list to have a Languedoc G2 built. Paul includes a custom made guitar case along with the guitar as well.
The Languedoc G2 also employs a double/single coil switch that allows the player to switch the humbuckers to single coil pickups. In addition the guitar includes a series/parallel switch to allow the player to move the pickups from being in series to parallel, again augmenting the tone of the guitar. These switches provide a very versatile pickup setup that gives a wide range of tonal options. Other guitarists like Jimmy Page have employed this kind of pickup switching setup as well.
