Collings D-45 Baaa A

To celebrate our 10,000th guitar, we wanted to build something special. So, we turned to Bruce VanWart, our “wood guru” who also happens to be our most senior employee and former master boat builder from Massachusetts. We decided on a 45 style Brazilian/Adirondack Dreadnought. I believe this is only the sixth 45 style Collings guitar ever built (record keeping was not a priority in Bill’s earlier days). The last one we built was built for Lyle Lovett in 2000. Obviously, these are special guitars and not part of our regular production. We build them for special occasions and do not take orders for them. Though, not necessarily one of a kind (I think it’s one of three dreadnoughts), this one is certainly rare and certainly a collectable item. It also includes a beautiful Calton case to protect it.
