“Happy” is the tenth track on the Rolling Stones’ 1972 album Exile on Main St. Lead vocals are sung by Keith Richards. “Happy” was released as the second single from the album in July 1972, it reached number 22 in the US charts.
“Happy” was written primarily by Richards in the summer of 1971, at the villa NellcĂ´te in France. The song was recorded using the famous Rolling Stones Mobile Recording Unit – a recording studio built into a large van that allowed the Rolling Stones to record outside of a normal studio.
“Happy” uses an open G tuning (DBGDGD low to high) for the guitar.
